The rig is designed to drill geothermal boreholes as fast as a 60,000-pound truck rig, yet weighs only 10,000 pounds and is 48" wide. It has a lower ownership costs (and purchase price) compared to other rigs available—plus it is fast and efficient. When Techno Drill talks about geothermal they are referring to warm soil, rather than hot rock technology—using heat pumps to heat or cool buildings rather than hot rocks and steam to generate electricity. Their rigs can compete in the commercial market, drilling geothermal boreholes around public or commercial buildings, but they are also small enough to get into the smaller residential sites as this is where the main future growth will be.
