Exowatt Expands to Austin as AI-Driven Power Demand Reshapes U.S. Energy Infrastructure
Exowatt, a clean power company built for the AI era, announced the opening of its new Austin, Texas office, timed with SXSW, marking a major milestone as the company accelerates deployment of sustainable power solutions to meet rapidly growing AI and data center demand.
“We are witnessing a historic collision between the digital demand for AI and the physical reality of our power grid,” said Hannan Happi, CEO and Co-Founder of Exowatt. “Exowatt believes energy should be an enabler of progress, not a constraint. Our new Austin campus allows us to scale at the pace of our customers, delivering the foundational infrastructure that will define this decade of technological growth.”
The Southwest has become the epicenter of the U.S. AI infrastructure buildout, making Austin a strategic anchor for Exowatt’s expansion. Anchored by world-class technical talent, robust grid infrastructure, and forward-looking energy policy, the region provides the ideal foundation for Exowatt to scale production and deliver clean power at the scale AI demands.
Situated on an 11-acre campus, the new facility features 48,000 square feet of integrated office and warehouse space. This site will serve as a strategic hub for Exowatt’s engineering, operations, and manufacturing, providing the necessary scale to accelerate production as the company meets surging demand for its modular energy systems through a domestically built supply chain.
“AI is catalyzing one of the most significant infrastructure expansions of our time,” said Evan Loomis, General Partner at Austin-based Overmatch Ventures, which participated in Exowatt’s $50 million Series A extension announced last November. “Power is the gating factor, and Exowatt is solving it with speed and scalability. Their modular approach to renewables has the potential to underpin the next generation of compute, and we’re proud to support their continued growth in Austin.”
The Austin expansion builds on strong company momentum, including the launch of ExoRise, a dedicated business arm focused on turnkey powered land solutions in high-solar regions across the U.S. Southwest, including New Mexico, West Texas, Arizona, and Nevada, and a $50 million Series A extension closed at the end of last year.
Exowatt will host partners and investors this evening to celebrate the opening and discuss the future of resilient manufacturing that solidifies U.S. leadership in the AI race.
