US Wind Adds Steel Manufacturing Veteran to Offshore Wind Team

US Wind, Inc. ("US Wind") announced the hiring of Timothy Mack as the company's new Foundation Package and Localization Manager. In his new role, Mack will lead US Wind's efforts to build the steel foundations for the company's offshore wind project and create jobs in this new industry in Maryland.

"Tim's deep experience in the steel and offshore wind industries is critically important to our plans to make Maryland a hub of offshore wind jobs," said Jeff Grybowski, US Wind CEO.

Mack joins US Wind from EEW AOS, LLC, where he most recently served as US Business Development Manager for Offshore Wind. Mack brings 25 years of experience in the steel industry and 14 years of experience in the offshore energy industry to the US Wind team. His vast knowledge and experience in working with wind developers, labor unions, government officials, steel manufacturers, and technology and service providers makes him uniquely positioned to advance US Wind's development efforts.

"We are going to create a lot of jobs in Maryland, said Mack. "Maryland's top-shelf port facilities and skilled workers are perfect for offshore wind. I look forward to using my experience to help US Wind and the state of Maryland take a leading role in this growth."

US Wind acquired an 80,000-acre federal lease area off of the coast of Maryland in 2014. In 2017, the company was awarded Offshore Renewable Energy Credits (ORECs) from the State of Maryland for the first phase of its MarWin project. In total, the company's lease area can support approximately 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind energy capacity. In 2019, Maryland passed the Clean Energy Jobs Act, which increased the state's offshore wind energy requirements, calling for an additional 1.2 GW to be procured from developers with projects near the state's coast.
