RealPort Unveils Independent Asset Selection Committee

RealPort, the digital brokerage platform giving European wind and solar asset holders access to a new source of passive capital at project level, has appointed three renewables industry experts to oversee the quality of assets entering its platform.

As an independent body, the Asset Selection Committee forms an integral part of RealPort's rigorous asset vetting and onboarding process. Its role will be to confirm to platform investors and external banking and regulatory partners that any asset entering the platform meets RealPort's investment standards.

By aggregating passive capital from small institutions and family offices in exchange for tradable, bite-sized positions in single assets, RealPort can address the mezzanine and secondary financing needs of asset holders.

The platform gives investors traditionally frozen out of the sector access to investment opportunities in quality, operational wind and solar assets with contracted revenues and managed by respected market leaders.

The Asset Selection Committee is chaired by Anthony Marsh, who brings 35 years' infrastructure investing experience and set up the UK Government's Green Investment Bank, which raised and invested a  £1bn fund into UK offshore wind assets. Tony currently sits on infrastructure investment committees for Aviva Infrastructure Investors and BaltCap.

Also bringing significant experience to the Committee is Dr. Barbara Weber, an industry leader in sustainable infrastructure investing and Founding Partner of B Capital Partners AG. Barbara is also a renowned author of standard-setting literature on infrastructure investing in general and sustainable infrastructure in particular, the latest being her book "Infrastructure as an Asset Class. Second edition".

Completing the Committee is Gurpreet Gujral, a former Macquarie/Green Investment Group Director now serving as Managing Director Renewable Energy at the Atrato Group. Gurpreet has been in the renewables sector for over 15 years, in both the public and private capital markets. Having been a leading analyst within the sector, he is now a fund manager investing in commercial and industrial behind-the-meter solar PV systems.

Anthony Marsh commented: "RealPort represents a welcome innovation for a sector pursuing ambitious 'Net Zero' targets.  By utilising the latest technology, it makes attractive direct investment opportunities available to smaller institutional investors, while also providing the potential for increased liquidity as the platform grows.  I look forward to helping discharge the duties of the Committee."
