U.S. Department of Energy Names SunWize As Qualified Energy Service Company

SunWize Technologies, Inc., a global engineering, procurement, and construction company, premier distributor of sustainable energy products, and developer of engineered solutions for mission-critical projects, today announced that the company has earned certification from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as a “Qualified Energy Service Company.”  This designation is an indication of SunWize’s deep industry experience and proven track record of successfully developing and managing solar projects for the U.S. Government.

“We welcome the vote of confidence the DOE has placed in SunWize’s ability to provide the right solution to our customers’ energy needs,” explained SunWize President and Chief Operating Officer David Kaltsas.  “It is another example of why leading public and private organizations routinely turn to us to solve their most complex sustainable energy challenges.”

This certification grants SunWize pre-approval status as a Qualified Energy Service Company and entitles the company to submit unsolicited proposals for Energy Savings Performance Contracting.  As a prerequisite to achieving this certification, SunWize was required to demonstrate success in serving as the prime contractor with direct financial responsibility for project design and installation of PV systems where energy savings or utility demand reduction could be verified.  A Qualification Review Board (QRB) comprised of DOE staff awarded SunWize the certification.

With approximately 20MW of contracted solar projects for the Department of Veterans Affairs and other government agencies including the Department of Defense, Department of the Interior, Public Building Service, and the General Services Administration (GSA), SunWize has a wealth of experience in working with the U.S. Government.  This includes the engineering and installing of the country’s largest solar carport at the VA Medical Center in Phoenix.  SunWize also designs systems for military deployment in the field and remote locations in the U.S. for surveillance, monitoring, ranger station power, water pumping, and lighting.  SunWize systems are field proven to continuously operate through extreme climates. SunWize has an “exceptional” rating of projects from the DOD’s Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS), a system that assesses a contractor's performance during a specific period of time.

In addition to this certification, SunWize is also listed on the Government Services Administration Contract, and has been since 1996.  This provides the Federal Government with a source for quality solar supplies and turnkey solar projects.  These validations along with SunWize’s track record of adhering to a defined and aggressive small business subcontracting plan are evidence that the company is a field-proven, experienced contractor for the U.S. Government.
