Trina Solar

With its latest ‘Quad Max’ technology, Trina Solar is launching a new product: high-efficiency, square-shaped monocrystalline cells and modules. Built into modules, Quad Max cells will boost module power output from 5% to 8% when compared to conventional monocrystalline modules. Trina Solar developed the Quad Max using innovative manufacturing processes and a proprietary, state-of-the-art metallization and passivation technique, in addition to two extra high-temperature thermal processes, as well as additional printing. These complex technological processes allow Trina Solar’s Quad Max to yield enhanced conversion efficiencies of 18.2% on average and up to 18.8%. The Quad Max’s square shape allows the cell to harvest more sunlight, avoiding the loss of surface area typical of conventional octagonally shaped monocrystalline cells. In module-form, the cells gain 5% more surface area than ordinary monocrystalline modules.
