RBI Solar Receives DSA Pre-Check Design Approval for Solar Canopy Structures

RBI Solar is pleased to announce that they have received approval from the California Division of State Architect (DSA) on a Pre-Check (PC) solar carport structure design. The typical structural plan review process can be quite involved, and with a DSA project can extend project schedules for months in some cases. This PC will allow for expedited permit approval on California school projects and includes multiple configurations to offer additional array design flexibility.

By doing the structural design and approval legwork upfront, RBI Solar is in position to better serve clients pursuing these projects. “With the DSA PC approval, we have essentially attained structural permits, which will greatly decrease the time needed in obtaining project permits. On school projects with limited construction access – typically occurring at times when schools are out of session – this is a critical component of overall project scheduling. It is yet another way that RBI takes overall project costs into consideration when designing a cost-effective solar racking structure to meet our customers’ project needs” says Michael Slack, RBI Solar Director of Engineering.

In combination with the recent opening of their manufacturing facility in Temecula, CA the PC is a step towards increasing efficiency and reducing costs for projects located in California and all of the western United States. New Temecula facility has CNC fabrication and 4-axis CNC aluminum profile manufacturing equipment along with stamping and other miscellaneous manufacturing equipment. With 60,000sq-ft manufacturing space, RBI’s Temecula facility has an annual production capacity of 50MW.
