Polar Racking Awarded Utility Scale Single Axis Tracker Solar Project in Alberta 

Polar Racking, a leading North American supplier and manufacturer of solar mounting solutions, is excited to announce that the company has been awarded the contract to supply its industry-leading Single Axis Tracker and helical pile foundations, for a 26MW solar project in Killarney, Alberta by the owner of the project, Akamihk Energy and general contractor on the project, Akamihk Kanataskiy Ventures (AKV) Ltd. Both companies are solely owned by Montana First Nation in central Alberta.

The solar development is located around 12 km west of Killarney Lake in central Alberta within the Municipal District of Wainwright No.61. The electricity generated from this solar farm will provide enough energy to power around 2,500 typical homes.   

Polar Racking was selected as the racking and foundation supplier for this site because of its superior terrain following capabilities. Due to the undulating terrain and inconsistent geotechnical conditions, multiple foundation designs were specified for this project by PRI Engineering the foundation engineer of record for this project.
