Elmya Energy and Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure Launch Joint Venture to Bring Online 4 GW of U.S. Power Projects

Elmya Energy and Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure Ltd announced the formation of Elmantic, a new joint venture to develop 4 GW of utility-scale renewable energy projects in the United States. The Elmya Energy USA team, together with the Atlantica North America team, will spearhead all development activities for the new Joint Venture.

Elmantic draws upon the deep, global project development expertise of Elmya and Atlantica's operational excellence and infrastructure investment capabilities. Founded as an electrical contractor in 1966, Elmya, based in Seville, Spain, has grown into a global renewable energy company connecting more than 3 GW of renewable energy projects worldwide.

Atlantica is a leading sustainable infrastructure company focused on the development, construction and management of renewable energy, storage, efficient natural gas and transmission assets across North America, Europe, and South America.

Carlos Piñar, Managing Director of Elmya, said, "The U.S. stands as one of the largest and most dynamic markets for energy in the world. Our formation of Elmantic during this time of resetting and growth for the U.S. power industry underscores our conviction that renewable energy will continue to play a major role in America's expanding economy. Colin Mott, Manuel Rodríguez Díaz, and MakNagle, with their wealth of renewable development experience and technical expertise, are uniquely positioned to navigate the complexities of project development and ensure that the best projects succeed."

In the U.S., Elmya Energy will initially focus on greenfield development of renewable energy and battery storage projects in the ERCOT and WECC markets. Elmya Energy's track record of development success relies on its seasoned in-house project execution expertise, as well as its data-driven framework for advancing the best projects. With offices in Richmond, Virginia and Austin, Texas, Elmya Energy USA expects to add new team members to support the joint venture in 2025.

Colin Mott, Head of North America for Elmya Energy USA, said, "We are committed to upholding Elmya's hard-earned, 60-year reputation for reliability, transparency, and long-term commitment to the communities they work in. As we advance new greenfield energy infrastructure, our priority is working with landowners and communities to build mutually beneficial energy projects."

Colin continued, "Elmantic's strategy is underpinned by a new era of elevated electricity demand, competitive pricing for renewable energy, and our ability to bring new projects online faster than any source of new generation. With potential shakeup in interconnection queues creating new opportunities, as well as our advanced strategy around site selection and development, we see great opening for our targeted strategy."
