A Better Focus Co. is dedicated to closing the cost gap between solar thermal generation and traditional combustion-based generation of steam or hot water. The company has developed concentrating dish technology utilizing reflective film at a fraction of the cost of glass mirror systems—also affording a minimum 10-year life of the film. Performance of an eight-inch diameter dish for power applications has been demonstrated, and a 1/4-scale four-dish tracking system has been constructed.
