Fronius GEN24 Receives CEC ESS Listing, Gaining California’s Approval
Fronius USA is pleased to announce that the California Energy Commission (CEC) officially added Fronius GEN24 to its Energy Storage System (ESS) listing when pairing the Fronius GEN24 solar inverter and the BYD-HVM battery solution. “With the CEC ESS official listing, the Fronius GEN24 has been recognized as an approved top choice for energy storage in California, delivering exceptional quality, efficiency, and reliability for the state's evolving energy market,” said Richard Baldinger, Director of Sales & Marketing Business Unit Solar Energy at Fronius USA.
Technical Details The CEC approved listing covers the Fronius GEN24 and GEN24 Plus models (3.8kW, 5.0kW, 6.0kW, 7.7kW, and 10.0kW), which are now approved for use with BYD’s energy storage capacities (11.0kWh, 13.8kWh, 16.6kWh, and 19.3kWh). The Fronius GEN24 and BYD HVM system can now be installed together in California, as well as in other utility markets that have adopted the CEC listing outside of the state of California. The Fronius GEN24 with BYD-HVM combination can now be found on the CEC’s official list under Shenzhen BYD Electronics Co., Ltd., with all available GEN24 inverter sizes listed above referencing each model number.
Importance of the Approval The CEC’s ESS listing is a certification in California, a state known for its high standards commitment to renewable energy and energy efficiency. The 2-step criteria to apply for the certification includes: (1) achieving the UL 1741 grid-tied inverter standard combined with (2) the UL 9540 energy storage system standard. The CEC approval allows the Fronius GEN24 and the BYD HVM system to be installed together highlighting the exceptional quality combination of the residential hybrid inverter integrated battery solution.
