Zero Emission Transportation Association Marks Two-Year Anniversary with Release of Annual Report

The Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) marked the organization’s two-year anniversary with the release of its annual report. ZETA is the first industry-backed coalition of its kind advocating for 100% electric vehicles (EVs) sales in the U.S. by 2030. The annual report highlights ZETA’s major accomplishments during the past year and plans for the future.

“This was quite a year for ZETA and the United States’ entire domestic electric vehicle supply chain,” said Joe Britton, the Executive Director of ZETA. “Together, we secured highly sought-after policy goals in the EV space, including reopening the consumer EV tax credit and making used EVs eligible, the creation of broad industrial policies that incentivize the development, processing, and manufacturing of battery minerals and components, and strengthened grant and loan programs to help businesses and governments electrify their transportation fleets.”

ZETA accomplished two-thirds of the policy goals it set out to achieve in its inaugural policy platform. Many of those goals were accomplished this Congress, following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). In addition to these advocacy efforts, ZETA has also continued to support oversight over the U.S. Postal Service to ensure it transitions to an all-electric fleet and provided critical input on key regulatory efforts conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency and National Highway Traffic Safety Association.

“The legislative and policy achievements we accomplished this Congress will make an enormous difference on emissions reduction and set the stage to supercharge American manufacturing for decades to come,” said Britton. “There is now certainty and clarity on our country’s commitment to transportation electrification, in addition to robust funding to help manufacturers and investors get started on long-term projects that will create millions of jobs and innovations for the future.”

The ZETA Education Fund (ZETA-EF) has also delivered important information to the public on the environmental, social, and economic advantages of EV adoption. For example, ZETA-EF released two white papers on the impact of transitioning to Medium- and Heavy-Duty EVs and the opportunities EVs hold for rural communities while simultaneously creating an EV Investment Map to showcase investments in the U.S. EV supply chain, including information on investments amounts and increases in American jobs.
