Renewable Properties Announces 4 MW EV Fleet Charging Hub in Richmond, California

Renewable Properties, a developer and investor in small-scale utility, community solar, energy storage, and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure projects, announced it has closed on the purchase of land and a $20 million credit facility for a new EV charging hub for fleet vehicles in Richmond, California and across the US. The 4-megawatt (MW) Goodrick Avenue EV Depot project will commence construction in Q2 of 2026 and is expected to be completed by October 2027. The project is being funded by a $20 million credit facility from a prominent family office investment firm earmarked for Renewable Properties’ growing EV Charging Hub division. Renewable Properties has also received a $3 million grant from the Bay Area Air District to construct the project.

Located in an industrial infill area known for warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing, the Goodrick Avenue, Richmond location will become one of Renewable Properties’ first completed EV charging hubs for medium-duty EV truck fleets. Designed for commercial applications, such as delivery trucks, box trucks, utility service vehicles, and smaller buses, the facility will feature 60 charging stalls with 16 Level 3 DCFS chargers and 48 Level 2 chargers. The company expects additional committed capacity from PG&E in 2026, which will further expand the depot’s 4 MW of charging capacity.

With its strategic location in Contra Costa County near the critical junction of Interstates 80 and 580, the Goodrick Avenue site will be uniquely positioned as a regional EV charging hub for public agencies, school districts, and municipalities operating in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its central location is ideal for meeting the growing demand for fleet and public EV charging across the region.

The project will help local and state entities reduce transportation-related emissions and support California’s broader decarbonization goals. As California continues its phaseout of gas-powered vehicles through initiatives like the state’s Advanced Clean Fleets Regulation, which mandates the transition of public fleets to zero-emission vehicles, this depot will provide much-needed charging capacity to support public agencies and commercial fleets in meeting zero-emission mandates.

“The Richmond charging hub is part of Renewable Properties’ expanded commitment to decarbonizing the transportation sector,” said Aaron Halimi, Founder and President of Renewable Properties. “This launch will not only expand Bay Area EV fleet infrastructure, it will help lead a shift toward reducing diesel and gas emissions in high traffic corridors and support the health of disadvantaged communities.”

"The Air District is proud to support this transformative project that accelerates the shift to clean transportation in Richmond,” said Dr. Philip Fine, executive officer of the Air District. “This new charging hub is the kind of infrastructure investment we need to help fleets meet zero-emission requirements while delivering cleaner air to communities that have faced the brunt of transportation pollution. It’s a meaningful step toward a healthier future for all Bay Area residents.”

Located in the City of Richmond, an area designated as an Energy Community, Low-Income Community, and Disadvantaged Community (DAC), the Goodrick Avenue charging hub will bring clean transportation access to communities historically overburdened by pollution and underserved by infrastructure investment.

In addition to the new Goodrick Avenue facility, Renewable Properties has nine other EV fleet charging depots under development in high-traffic cities in the San Francisco Bay Area, California’s Central Coast, and Chicago, Illinois.

Renewable Properties’ EV fleet charging infrastructure service was launched in late 2023. The turnkey service deploys private charging depots for medium-duty electric trucks and last-mile delivery fleets. Companies and municipalities reserve space at these hubs through a charging-as-a-service agreement similar to a power purchase agreement (PPA). Renewable Properties owns, builds, operates, and maintains the gated depots, while contracted customers pay only for the kilowatt-hours charged by the EVs. Tailored specifically for EV fleets, each EV charging hub features Level 2 and Level 3 chargers, reserved electrical capacity, secure yards, and vehicle storage.
