DOE Requests Input on Energy and Other Needs for Data Centers
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Policy has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to inform possible use of DOE land for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure development to support growing demand for data centers. DOE has identified 16 potential sites positioned for rapid data center construction, including in-place energy infrastructure with the ability to fast-track permitting for new energy generation.
DOE is requesting input from energy developers, data center developers, and the public regarding potential development approaches, technology solutions, operational models, economic considerations, and opportunities and challenges associated with existing energy infrastructure and potential co-location of data centers with new energy generation.
Learn more and respond: RFI on Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure on DOE Lands.
Responses are requested by May 7, 2025.
