A new feature offered by Siemens applies state-of-the-art blade design, used for the new Siemens Integral Blade, to upgrade wind turbines already installed for better performance. Less costly than investing in new turbines, Siemens V3 Power Curve Upgrade package can provide increased value and extra revenue. As a result of continuous blade design R&D, Siemens offers the power-curve upgrade installation package for already installed SWT-2.3-93 and SWT-2.3-101 turbines. The upgrade, dependent on site conditions, can generally increase annual energy production (AEP) by up to +1.5%, making this a potentially attractive investment with a short payback time.

The upgrade package consists of three aerodynamic components—DinoTails, DinoShells and vortex generators, as well as a software adjustment—with which a turbine is better able to utilize the wind resource, and becomes capable of operating according to an improved power curve. The components are strategically placed on the blades for improved aerodynamics and power performance. Upon installation, it’s anticipated the new power curve (V3) can be obtained, allowing a possible additional Annual Energy Production of up to +1.5% at 7.5 m/s and air density 1225 kg/m3.
