Powin Energy Announces New Senior Vice President of Operations

As a leading designer and developer of advanced battery management technology and manufacturer of battery energy storage solutions, Powin Energy Corporation (Powin) is taking measures to address the increase in demand for large commercial & industrial and utility-scale energy storage applications.  To help meet the needs of a burgeoning industry, Powin is growing its staff and today announced that John Hewitt has joined its executive management team as Senior Vice President of Operations. Hewitt's experience includes over 20 years in renewable energy with a focus in project management, strategic planning, process improvement, global business operations, recruiting and performance management, and risk mitigation.  In this new position, Hewitt will manage all aspects of Powin's project program from commercial sale through to operation and will be responsible for overseeing project installation, commissioning, and operations, as well as construction, logistics, and procurement.   

Hewitt built his career leading project management and operations for marine applications, automated process plants and renewable energy power plants and has worked for companies such as APV PLC, NEG Micon USA, Inc., Vestas American Wind Technology Inc., Senvion GmbH and Suzlon Energy Corp (Suzlon).  Hewitt most recently served as Senior Vice President, Projects-International Division at Suzlon, where he was responsible for planning, estimating, and the turnkey design/build of wind power plants in existing and new international markets outside of India's domestic market. While at Suzlon, he set up a tender program for EPC services for turnkey design/construction of pipeline of wind farm projects at various stages of development, ultimately selecting and forming partnerships with two construction companies.  Before that, Hewitt worked at Senvion GmbH as Executive Vice President, Global Projects where he was the head of global project management, overseeing 300 full-time staff who installed 700 on and offshore wind turbines per year across 150 unique projects in seven global geographical regions.
