Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette to Keynote the U.S. Energy Storage Association's 30th Annual Conference and Expo

The U.S. Energy Storage Association  (ESA), the national trade association for companies that develop and deploy the energy storage technologies that are key to modernizing the grid, announced Department of Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette will keynote The Energy Storage Association Annual Conference and Expo. ESA's premier event will be held April 8-10 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. Secretary Brouillette's address will focus on America's leadership and innovation in energy storage and the Department of Energy's (DOE) recent launch of the Energy Storage Grand Challenge.

"Our nation's legacy was built on innovation across all industries. The energy sector has seen substantial growth and transformation in the last decade and energy storage, in particular, is key to our continued momentum," said Secretary Brouillette. "At DOE, we are focused on sustaining America's global leadership in energy storage and energy efficiency. I look forward to participating this year in ESA's Annual Conference, which provides a forum for convening clean energy leaders in both public and private sectors to advance our nation's goals."

Mr. Brouillette currently serves as the 15th Secretary of the DOE and has three decades of experience in both the public and private sector. Prior to his confirmation, he served as the Deputy Secretary of Energy from August 2017 to December 2019. Recently, Secretary Brouillette launched the Energy Storage Grand Challenge, a comprehensive program focused on accelerating the development, commercialization and utilization of next-generation energy storage technologies and sustain American global leadership in energy storage.

"Energy storage is central to our modern energy ecosystem and we are honored to have Secretary Dan Brouillette join us this year in Pittsburgh," remarked Kelly Speakes-Backman, CEO of ESA. "We applaud the Department of Energy's efforts to promote energy storage technology innovation and market transformation through its Energy Storage Grand Challenge, which will help advance our industry toward the industry's shared goal of 35 GW by 2025."

The 30th Annual Conference will convene more than 2,000 attendees from leaders and executives across the energy storage industries. The conference schedule includes more than 150 leading industry speakers, and insightful education sessions, site tours to advanced energy projects and multiple workshops led by renowned experts.
