U.S. Energy Storage Association Hires Marc Chupka as VP of Research and Programs

The U.S. Energy Storage Association is pleased to announce the hiring of Marc Chupka as Vice President of Research and Programs. Marc has over 30 years of experience analyzing and advising on the market impacts of both domestic and international energy and environmental policy, including serving as the acting Assistant Secretary of Energy for Policy and International Affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy and chief economist at the White House Office of Environmental Policy.

For the past 18 years, Marc consulted on a broad range of energy issues for utilities, trade associations, and investors as a principal at The Brattle Group, most recently focusing on issues related to grid resilience, clean energy, and climate policy.

In his role with ESA, Marc will lead the organization's Corporate Responsibility Initiative Task Force, direct and expand ESA's Technical Advisory Committee, shepherd the association's expanding educational materials, and grow the industry's data, information and analytical resources to support ESA's policy priorities.

"We're very excited to have Marc join our team, given his long and broad experience across energy technologies and regional markets, advising regulators, utilities, industries, and investors," said ESA CEO Kelly Speakes-Backman. "Marc will play an important role as the association prepares for near-term growth in energy storage adoption, which is transforming America's electricity and transportation infrastructure."

"Joining the U.S. Energy Storage Association is an exciting new step for me in a long career of analyzing how technology, market and regulatory changes impact the U.S. electric grid. Energy storage is not only central to climate solutions, it's a robust new economic and jobs opportunity for the country, and I look forward to helping ESA support the industry as it achieves the scale commensurate with the value it offers," said Marc.
