Statement from Alliance for Clean Energy NY on the NY Public Service Commission Approval of New Contracting Options for Windpower and Solar
Following the announcement from the New York Public Service Commission regarding Indexed REC contracting, Anne Reynolds, Executive Director of the Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACE NY) stated,
"...NY's Public Service Commission approved an exciting new contracting option for renewable energy. New York's renewable energy industry welcomes this new contracting option, in the belief that it will attract new projects, investment, and competition to New York. To meet the State's ambitious renewable energy and climate goals, we clearly need to build new wind and solar projects, and quickly. So this enhancement to New York's Clean Energy Standard is great news. Our industry looks forward to continuing to invest in New York State and help it meet its clean energy goals."
This decision by the Commission authorizes NYSERDA to solicit bids from renewable energy developers to build new renewable energy projects using what is referred to as an Indexed Renewable Energy Credit (REC) contract. It responded to a Petition submitted by the American Wind Energy Association and the Alliance for Clean Energy NY submitted in CASE 15-E-0302.
