Final Push to Raise Outstanding  £30,000 for UistWind Project Community Share Offer Deadline Extended to 31 December 201

An urgent plea is being made for investors to buy shares in a small community-owned island wind farm to help it reach its fundraising target of  £350,000 by the end of the year.

UistWind, a project of the North Uist Development Company, is in the final stages of raising money for its two 900kW turbines at Criongrabhal, near Clachan-na-Luib, but is facing a shortfall and running out of time.

The Community Share Offer is standing at  £323,250 and been given one last extension in a bid to raise the outstanding sum of nearly  £30,000.

Financial close will be on December 31, whether the money is raised or not.

The project, which will be the last that can be developed in the Outer Hebrides without an intercon-nector or similar upgrade to the cable to the mainland, aiming to generate  £2.33million for the com-munity over the project's projected lifespan of 22 years.

Shares start at  £250 and investors will get a target four per cent return on their money.
