The era of sustainable transport has arrived. After a slow start, the essential technologies to enable the transition from fossil fuel-powered vehicles to e-mobility are now in place. In the coming years, we can expect to see a dramatic and accelerating shift in the type of vehicles and infrastructure that are used to transport people and goods. The most visible aspect of this transition is the automobile. The internal combustion engine is giving way to the electric motor, which is rapidly approaching the point where it can match a gasoline or diesel engine in acceleration, performance and range, but without producing the emissions that are polluting our atmosphere. Two pioneers driving the e-mobility transition are ABB and Formula E. In January 2018, we teamed up to form the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the world's first fully electric FIA motorsport series, to advance e-mobility for a sustainable future.
