PJM Interconnection announced the results of its Reliability Pricing Model Base Residual Auction for the 2021/2022 delivery year, which awarded Enel X, through its US subsidiary EnerNOC, with more than 180 million USD in capacity payments for its Demand Response Resources.

The auction procures power supply resources to meet electricity needs for three years from now in the PJM service area, which includes all or parts of 13 states^[i]and the District of Columbia. PJM procured 163,627 megawatts of resources for the period of June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2022, of which 11,126 MW was demand response.

This strong result for Enel X is driven by higher year-over-year capacity prices and an 18 percent year-over-year growth in megawatts cleared in the PJM market.

"The results are good news for PJM rate payers and for commercial and industrial customers who get paid to reduce their energy consumption during times of grid stress to help ensure a clean and reliable grid at least cost to ratepayers," said Christian Weeks, Head of Flexibility Solutions for Enel X in North America.

PJM is the largest and most mature demand response market in the world. The most recent tender results underscore the value that DR delivers to the PJM power system by increasing competition and reducing overall system costs for ratepayers.
