Nergica: The Natural Progression of the TechnoCentre éolien

After endeavouring in the wind power sector for close to 20 years, the TechnoCentre éolien (TCE) is expanding its horizons by incorporating solar PV and the integration of renewables into its service offering. Already recognized at home and abroad for its expertise, TCE is proud to underscore this evolution and mark this turning point by adopting a new visual identity and officially changing its name to Nergica

Thanks to this solid expertise and recognition from within the industry, this college centre for technology transfer (CCTT) affiliated with a local college - Cégep de la Gaspésie et des ÃŽles - has obtained accreditation for solar PV integration from the Quebec Department of Education and Higher Education. Thus, the research centre is no longer dedicated exclusively to wind, but also to solar PV and the integration of renewables at large. This accreditation will help meet a genuine need for applied research and support. At the same time, Nergica cements its position as an essential reference in Canada for all matters related to renewables and the energy transition.

"We're delighted to signal this turning point for our organization. Since the year 2000, we have developed and honed cutting-edge expertise, initially in wind power, which we later diversified. After wind, we added microgrids, storage, and solar, which together represent the core focus of Nergica, a centre for applied research that possesses all the tools, infrastructures and know-how necessary to support today's energy transition", claims Nergica's General Manager Frédéric Côté.

Notwithstanding its revamped identity, Nergica reaffirms the organization's mission, which consists of creating new opportunities for renewable energy.

"We have a vision for the future of energy in Quebec, points out Frédéric Côté. For nearly two decades, we have been at the forefront of renewables development. We have always believed that green energies can represent both an answer to some of the greatest challenges of our time and the driver of a new economy. For this reason, we leverage our know-how to spur innovation as we strive to remain a leader in an energy transition that extends far beyond our borders."

Drawing from its varied areas of expertise in renewables, Nergica supports the growth of Quebec-based SMEs that work in these fields. Nergica participates in commissions and working groups, in addition to representing Canada within expert groups of the International Energy Agency.
