The RTCC Highlights ScottMadden's View of the Smart City Opportunity for Utilities

ScottMadden, Inc., one of North America's leading energy consulting firms, was recently featured in the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC) newsletter to highlight a new report focused on the concept of "smart cities." Thiswhite paper provides a brief introduction to smart cities, details a framework to help visualize potential components, and identifies a simple, step-wise path for utilities to successfully support their community's efforts to pursue "smart city" initiatives.

"'Smart Cities' means different things to different people. The conversation about them includes real possibilities, good intentions, and some hype. But there is a practical path forward for many utilities, including steps that can be taken now. Done right, this can be a win-win for utilities and cities over the long term," said Stuart Pearman, partner and energy practice leader at ScottMadden. "As Humphrey Bogart said to Claude Rains at the end of Casablanca, 'Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.'"

"The RTCC is advancing the cleantech economy in the Research Triangle by collaborating with member companies like ScottMadden to bring thought leadership to issues such as this," added Chris Vlahoplus, partner and clean tech & sustainability practice leader at ScottMadden.
