Masdar Interested in Indonesia's Renewable Energy Market

Masdar has announced that it will work with an Indonesian power company to explore renewable energy opportunities in the largest country in South-east Asia.

The Abu Dhabi clean energy company signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesia's power company, PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PT PJB) to identify possibilities in Java-Bali and Sumatra regions to help meet the growing energy demand.

The Indonesian archipelago, which has the world's highest Muslim population, is looking to have 23 per cent of its energy mix come from renewable energy sources by 2025 and 31 per cent by 2050.

"We look forward to further developing our excellent relationship with PT PJB to help unlock Indonesia's vast potential for renewable energy," said Bader Al Lamki, Masdar's clean energy executive director.
