LG Chem Receives Prestigious Brad Roberts Outstanding Industry Achievement Award

LG Chem Ltd., a global leader in lithium-ion batteries for automotive, stationary and consumer applications, has received the Brad Roberts Outstanding Industry Achievement by a Member Organization Award from the Energy Storage Association (ESA).

The award, presented during ESA's 27th Annual Conference and Expo held in Denver, CO, on April 18-20, is given in recognition of companies that demonstrate comprehensive industry commitment and participation in the energy storage marketplace.

"It is an honor to be recognized by our peers and to follow in the footsteps of many prestigious companies in helping to grow the industry," said Peter Gibson, head of ESS Sales for LG Chem in North America. "With systems deployed in more than 20 states and throughout the globe - and advanced manufacturing located in Michigan - we now employ more than 600 people in the U.S. alone. This award recognizes the efforts of those people, and it recognizes our amazing partners, customers and industry."

LG Chem has been involved in a number of diverse U.S. initiatives that contributed to it receiving the prestigious award, including:

* Participating in several significant energy storage projects, including the successful delivery and commissioning of the largest battery system installed in North America, a 32 MWh battery energy storage system in Tehachapi, California;

* Signing a 1GWh long-term supply agreement with AES Energy Storage in 2015; and,

* Launching its residential product in 2017.

LG Chem has significantly expanded its Energy Storage Systems (ESS) business in the past several years, achieving revenue of $245 million in 2016. Globally, LG Chem aims to achieve a revenue growth of over 80 percent for 2017.
