Iberdrola Renewables has announced a 15-year contract to supply Southern California Edison (SCE) with renewable energy from the planned Tule wind power project.

SCE will purchase the entire output of the 132MW wind farm in the McCain Valley of eastern San Diego County when the project is expected to be completed in late 2017.

The Tule project will consist of up to 67 wind turbines located on almost14,000 acres  in the county of San Diego and Bureau of Land Management land north of the town of Boulevard.

The wind farm will produce enough energy to power the approximate equivalent of 40,000 average SCE households and is expected to deliver more than $39m in local and state tax benefits over 25 years.
