AWS Truepower Releases 2016 Annual and Q4 Wind Trends Bulletins

See the final results of global wind trends for the year in the 2016 Wind Index - a quick and easy way to track the influence of wind resource variations on wind industry performance.

The 2016 bulletin shows that many of the world's key wind-producing areas experienced below-normal winds in 2016. Amongst the top producers, deficits as strong as -7% (see the 2016 Wind Index) in mean speed were experienced, with localized deficits reaching -10% to -15% in places such as southern Argentina and northern Scandinavia. Other wind-producing areas such as northeastern Brazil, Turkey, and Portugal experienced above-normal winds. However, they were more the exception than the rule. Of the top twenty countries with the highest installed wind capacity (which represent 95% of the world's installed wind capacity), only four experienced wind anomalies above 0%.
