Quebec Wind Industry Businesses  Tackle Western Canadian Market

In collaboration with the Wind Energy Cluster, the TechnoCentre éolien (TCE) is accompanying a delegation of ten Quebec-based companies as part of a trade mission that will take place in Calgary from November 1 to 3. This mission which is being put together by the two organizations will be carried out at the Canadian Wind Energy Association's (CanWEA) Annual Conference and Exhibition. The TechnoCentre éolien shares its expertise with companies within the wind sector in order to help develop the export market.

Some of the participating businesses already export their know-how and services beyond Quebec, while other are seeking to open up new markets. "There is currently substantial dynamism in western Canada. For example, the Alberta market holds great potential for wind energy companies since the provincial government intends to deploy approximately 4,100 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy by 2030, which translates into roughly 300 MW a year. We are accompanying the delegation to solicit potential clients, notably by organizing private business meetings", explains Dave Lavoie, Director of the Wind Energy Cluster.
Quebec wind sector competitive in the export market

Quebec-based companies participating in this mission are well suited to succeed outside the province. These enterprises demonstrate innovation and boast proven expertise. "The support offered by TechnoCentre éolien with regard to both technologies and market development addresses the needs of businesses and contributes to achieving the Government of Quebec's targets recently unveiled in the 2016-2020 Quebec Export Strategy", adds TCE General Manager Frédéric Côté. Major economic spinoffs
For more than five years, the TechnoCentre éolien has been organizing trade missions throughout the country and abroad. These missions have helped businesses market their products and services as well as boost their sales in new markets. The two most recent missions organized on the sidelines of the CanWEA Conference brought together 29 Quebec-based companies and scheduled 281 business meetings. TCE estimates that the potential economic spinoffs of these missions amount to approximately $13.5 million.
