Win Inertia’s signature solution, SHAD, is a hybrid ultracapacitor-battery energy storage system (HESS) and the fruit of years of study and development. In March, the company deployed a first-of-its-kind HESS that not only facilitates the integration of renewable energy generation, but also demonstrates multiple services (real-time solar smoothing and load shifting) in a cost-optimized configuration as a part of Rankin, a joint project with Duke Energy, Maxwell Technologies, and Aquion Energy.
