ORISE Now Accepting Applications for EERE Postdoctoral Research Awards

ORISE, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) institute, is seeking Ph.D. researchers for a paid, two-year fellowship through the DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE). The EERE Postdoctoral Research Awards offer recipients the opportunity to continue their education and training and to conduct applied research at universities, national laboratories and other research facilities across the United States.
 
The program supports scientific research in energy efficiency and renewable energy by attracting the best scientists and engineers to pursue breakthrough technologies. EERE research fellows will have access to top scientists in their field, unique education and training opportunities and state-of-the-art projects and equipment. The 2016 awards have a special focus on solar energy research.
 
Recipients of the EERE Postdoctoral Research Awards will also be invited to interact with the DOE SunShot community. The U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative is a collaborative national effort launched in 2011 that aggressively drives innovation to make solar energy fully cost competitive with traditional energy sources before the end of the decade. SunShot builds on a tradition of steady collaboration between EERE and solar industry pioneers. Between 1975 and 2008, more solar energy patents were linked to EERE than to any other organization in the world.
 
Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $65,000, allowances for health insurance and research-related expenses and limited reimbursement for relocation expenses. To be eligible, applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have completed Ph.D. requirements by May 31, 2016, and must have had a doctorate degree for no more than five years.
