Senvion Celebrates Two Gigawatts in North America

At the occasion of Windpower 2015, the annual conference and exhibition of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), Senvion SE (“Senvion”) is celebrating two gigawatts (GW) in North America and a fleet availability of more than 98 % in the past 12 months. With this milestone, Senvion has demonstrated, once more, its turbines’ adaptability to various market environments, climate and grid conditions. The two gigawatts also represent the creation of hundreds of jobs across the North American continent and the ability to power about one million homes.

In fact, since its market entry in the US in 2007 and in Canada in 2010, the company has established several offices, warehouses and service locations in both Canada and the US to serve its client base across the continent. Today Senvion counts about five hundred employees in North America and has contributed to more than five hundred manufacturing jobs for the local production of wind turbine components. Senvion Service has comprehensive O&M contracts for 1.4 GW on the continent of which half have already been renewed and extended to an average contract duration of 10 years.

Helmut Herold, CEO of Senvion North America, says: “I am very proud of our achievements in North America. I am convinced that the hard work done by our local teams and the flexible approach towards our customers are key elements of our success.”

With Centerbridge Partners, L.P. (“Centerbridge”) as new owner of Senvion since April 30, 2015, Andreas Nauen, CEO of Senvion SE, is optimistic regarding further innovations and growth in North America as one of the company’s core markets: “Together with Centerbridge, we will take even greater advantage of our potential in the wind energy market. With its leading product portfolio, market position and by leveraging Centerbridge’s strong network, Senvion is now very well placed to benefit from the continued shift towards renewable energy and to continue our course of profitable growth. We will continue to expand our onshore market share, both in our top five markets of Germany, the UK, Australia, Canada and France and in other target markets and will also cement our strong position in the offshore market.”
