Senvion Completes First Ontario Wind Farm

The Ontario branch of Senvion Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Hamburg based Senvion SE, just completed commissioning of Oxley wind farm. The wind farm, located in Ontario’s Essex County, near Harrow, features three Senvion MM92 type turbines on 100 m towers, adapted for cold climates. The three turbines have an installed capacity of 6 MW.

The wind project has been developed by Oxley Wind Farm Inc., founded by Glen Estill and Henry Verhoeven. It is Senvion’s first Ontario project out of a pipeline of about 200 MW the German wind turbine supplier has contracted in the province so far. “I am very proud of our first Ontario project and the great spirit our local team has demonstrated!”, says Helmut Herold, CEO North America, Senvion Canada Inc. Senvion has also concluded a comprehensive service contract with the developer for a period of 10 years and is implementing a service station on site.

Senvion Canada Inc. currently counts about 200 employees in Canada and has offices in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. It is the hub of Senvion’s North American business. The company started its Canadian operations out of Montreal in the province of Quebec where it is supplying more than 1 GW by 2016. Today Senvion Canada Inc. has its own blade production facility in Welland, Ontario. It is the first of its kind for Senvion in North America.
