K2 Management was appointed by Cordelio Power to deliver project and construction management for the 185MW Glacier Sands onshore wind project in Illinois. This engagement comes on the back of a successful role in supporting the project during its late development and pre-construction phases. This pre-construction scope supported the project’s transition into the construction phase.
K2 Management will perform construction management until commercial operation, closely monitoring the project to ensure quality assurance and compliance. The scope of work includes the management of project stakeholders, site activities, OEMs and contractors by the team locally in the US, tapping into expertise in civil and electrical engineering, SCADA and WTG technology from across the business.
Paul Rapp, Vice President of Operations & Project Development at Cordelio Power, said: “Glacier Sands is a significant part of Cordelio Power’s commitment to clean energy growth in midwestern US. We appointed K2 Management’s experienced team to leverage its deep technical expertise and project delivery know-how through development and construction of this project.”
Lars Andersen, President, North America at K2 Management, commented: “Illinois is a frontrunner in its commitment to clean, renewable energy, proposing a target of 100% renewables by 2050. Projects like Glacier Sands will contribute to some of these important goals, such as increasing clean energy jobs in the state and the sustainable economic benefits that come with these developments.”
“This assignment will bring together our local knowledge, wind project experience and technical capabilities to support Cordelio Power’s clean energy ambitions.”
Glacier Sands onshore wind farm, situated in Mason County, Illinois, is expected to complete construction in late 2021.
