After introduction of bipartisan legislation that would allow Michigan residents to participate in community solar projects and save money on utility bills, Coalition for Community Solar Access Midwest Regional Director Jim Murray issued the following statement:
“For too long, Michigan residents and small businesses have been prevented from participating in community-based solar energy projects. The legislation introduced today would create the opportunity for all energy customers to save money on their energy bills and it would bring desperately needed investment, tax revenue and jobs into communities across the state that are struggling.
“Community solar is a win-win for Michigan, and we appreciate Reps. Hoitenga and Hood spearheading this important bipartisan issue. We hope to see this legislation advance quickly this legislative session as it will be a key part of Michigan’s energy future.”
