Pine Gate Renewables Wins The Cleanie Awards' Silver Award for "Midsized Company of the Year" and Honorable Mention for "Best Corporate Sustainability Program"

Pine Gate Renewables announced that it has won The Cleanie Awards' Silver Award for "Midsized Company of the Year" and an honorable mention for "Best Corporate Sustainability Program." The Cleanie Awards is the leading awards program focused on recognizing innovators and those making an impact on the clean energy industry.

"It's an honor to be recognized by The Cleanie Awards this year and to share the stage with so many other innovative companies who are progressing the renewable energy industry," said Ben Catt, CEO of Pine Gate Renewables. "Together we can all make a positive difference in people's lives and the environment."

In the "Midsized Company of the Year" category, Pine Gate was recognized for its significant contribution to the clean energy projects it launched in 2020 alone - a total of 398MW of projects in Michigan, North and South Carolina and Oregon. Two of its largest projects included Bowman Solar (101MWdc/74.9MWac) in Orangeburg County, SC, and Centerfield Solar (97MWdc/74.9MWac) in Chesterfield County, SC. The power generated by the projects placed online in 2020 is enough to provide electricity to nearly 90,000 homes annually and is the equivalent of avoiding 1.4 million barrels of oil consumed.

Pine Gate's honorable mention for the "Best Corporate Sustainability Program" was achieved for its Pine Gate Impact initiative, a program that supports various local, regional and international community organizations, including its national partnership with the GivePower Foundation, which constructs solar-powered desalination and water purification plants that provide access to clean drinking water for global communities in need. Pine Gate donates $200 for every MW installed to fund the development and construction of these plants around the globe. In 2021 alone, that contribution will allow more than 10,000 people annually to access clean drinking water in their community.

Pine Gate was selected by a cohort of peers including judges and leaders representing a cross section of the cleantech and renewable energy sectors, including Alison Mickey, Fluence; Ayanna Nibbs, CohnReznick Capital; Emily Chasan, Generate Capital; Kirsten Williams, DC Water; Paul Quinlan, ScottMadden, Inc.; Remy Pangle, REpowering Schools; Ron DeLyons, Creekwood Energy Partners LLC; Raheleh Folkerts, Lightsource bp; Thiam Giam, Black & Veatch Management Consulting, LLC; and Zadie Oleksiw, Clearway Energy Group.
