Wide-area visualization
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) recently added synchrophasors to its popular SEL-735 Power Quality and Revenue
Meter. With synchrophasors, users can now collect real-time measurements of electrical quantities from every SEL-735 Meter across

their system. Synchrophasor data can be used to perform wide-area control, validate system models, determine stability margins,
maximize stable system loading, detect islanding, record system-wide disturbances, and visualize dynamic system responses.
he SEL-735 supports the latest version of the synchrophasor standard, IEEE C37.118-2011 (as amended by IEEE

Sun tracker
C37.118.1a-2014) Class P, which provides for applications requiring fast response times under dynamic conditions. When used as a
phasor measurement unit (PMU), this SEL meter provides synchrophasor data for frequency, phase, positive sequence components,
for demanding four user-deined analog quantities, and 14 digital status bits.
circumstances
he SEL-735 features IEC 61000-4-30 power quality compliance along with accuracy, ease-of-use, reliability, and price. In addition,

Kipp & Zonen’s SOLYS Gear Drive Sun the combination of instrumentation transformer compensation and IEEE C37.118 is unique to SEL and the SEL-735 Meter. Customers

harsh climates and carrying heavy loads.

Its high precision gear drive system does
not require maintenance, making it ideal
for operation in remote locations.
he new SOLYS Gear Drive has a payload

of 80 kg and over 60 Nm of torque, allow-
ing for the use of multiple and/or heavy
instruments. he wide temperature range
is achieved from a high capacity internal

heater. For cold regions, an insulated cover
is available that allows operation in tem-
peratures down to -50°C and with wind
speeds up to 20 m/s. For hot regions, the

SOLYS Gear Drive can be itted with a sun
shield that extends the upper operating
temperature range to +60°C.
Kipp & Zonen has developed Windows

software with a user interface that allows
remote monitoring and logging of the
tracker status, solar zenith and azimuth
angles, GPS time and date, and more;

through Ethernet or an isolated RS-485
port. he integrated Web Interface with
Ethernet connection allows operational
parameters to be viewed and set, history

log iles to be downloaded, and irmware
can be updated.

High power

optimizers
SolarEdge announces the new P320

Power Optimizer. his power optimizer
has been designed speciically for the
latest high-power 60-cell modules being
released over the course of 2015. he

new P320 supports 60-cell modules up
to 320Wp with a short circuit current
(Isc) of up to 11amps. he P320 Power
Optimizer ofers up to 25% more energy

with 99.5% eiciency. It mitigates all
types of module mismatch losses, from
manufacturing tolerance to partial
shading. Allowing for fast installation,

it has a lexible system design for
maximum space utilization. he P320
Power Optimizer ofers next generation
maintenance with module-level

monitoring and voltage shut-down for
installer and ireighter safety.
