2018 solar buyers guide
Giga Solar
Giga Solar modules provide the bene ts of high-performance c-Si modules, but weigh less than 35% of a same size standard glass module. Because the modules are glass-free and frameless, they are not subject to breakage and do not corrode or suffer PID. The all-polymeric construction eliminates the need for grounding, making installations faster and operation safer. The thick composite back support provides environmental protection for the cells and offers many mounting options. The modules are available with mono or poly c-Si cells. Standard powers are from 140Wp to over 500Wp. Application speci c cell con gurations (e.g. 12V or 24V systems) are available upon request. www.gigasolarpv.com
Global Solar Energy
PowerFLEXTM CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium DiSelenide) exible thin lm Building Applied Photovoltaic (BAPV) modules range from 90 to 300W dc, and can make installation quick, easy, and less costly for commercial and industrial rooftops. No racking system is required when bonding these modules with a simple peel and stick process
to clean TPO and EPDM membranes, coated steels (such as stand-
ing seam metal roof), and elastomeric-coated modi ed bitumen. This installation process provides high wind resistance and no penetrations for roofs with at least a two degree slope, curved roofs, and roofs which can only handle a light load.

Hanwha Q CELLS
The new Q.PEAK DUO BLK-G5 from Q CELLS has an aesthetic visual appearance and provides high performance on a small surface due to its Q.ANTUM DUO technology. Q.ANTUM’s cell concept has been combined with circuitry half cells and a six busbar design, providing high performance under real conditions, with low-intensity solar radiation, as well as on hot, clear summer days. With power classes up to 320W on an all-black design, it is a solution for residential rooftops. Hanwha Q CELLS also provides a 98% power guarantee during the rst year, and less than 0.54% annual degradation afterwards, with a 25-year degradation of lower than 15%. www.q-cells.com/us
Heliatek GmbH
HeliaFilm, the lightweight, exible solar lm invented by Heliatek, generates electricity and weighs only 1 kg/m2. Heliatek’s solar lms can be directly applied to facades or roofs, or integrated into building materi- als, while no extra cooling or ventilation system is needed. The exible, thin, and lightweight solar lms are a solution for large area building elements such as steel-sandwich-panels, corrugated metal sheets, pre-casted concrete panels, roof membranes, and many others. There are no toxic materials in the clean production process nor in the end-product. www.heliatek.com
Lumeta Solar
Lumeta Solar’s modules are attached with adhesive, substantially reducing installation time, eliminating roof penetrations, and offering competitive economics. With low weight and no need for racking, there’s less risk to the roof, fewer parts, and simpli ed logistics. Their low-pro le, high-ef ciency monocrystalline silicon modules stream- line solar without compromising power output. Lumeta Lynx comes
in a 60-cell 300W format for composite shingle and at or curved concrete tiles, and a 72-cell 360W format for most low-slope or at roof surfaces. An integrated wire-management system improves aesthetics and ensures a simple installation process. www.lumetasolar.com
PowerFilm Solar
PowerFilm specializes in custom solar solutions meeting design, power- output, and timeline needs of customers. Controlling each step in engineer- ing, design, and production, PowerFilm delivers high quality and performing systems. Their amorphous silicon functions at low light levels making it
a solution for IoT, indoor, and many outdoor applications. Modules have been used for a wide range of applications including solar tents for the Army, powering electronics on a space exploration vehicle, and custom asset tracking solutions. PowerFilm has been developing and manufacturing its exible solar technology for nearly three decades in the United States. www.power lmsolar.com
Seraphim Solar USA Manufacturing
Seraphim USA recently introduced new product innovations, including
an attractive black-on-black module for residential and small commercial customers. The modules feature use of four-busbar, Passivated-emitter rear contact (PERC) cell-based modules. PERC modules are produced in
60- and 72-cell formats for residential, commercial, industrial, government, and military customers in the United States.

Itek Energy
The Itek Energy Smart Module integrates high- quality PV module craftsmanship with the Tigo TS4 platform, offering exibility and value. The Smart Module’s integrated J-Box covers enable plug-and-play installation, so a site can be easily enhanced without added rooftop devices and electronics. Safety, monitoring, optimization,
and long string functionality maximize energy harvest and increase potential site usage, reduce truck-rolls with remote monitoring, and offer NEC-compliant Rapid Shut Down for peace of mind. Itek’s modules are certi ed PID-free, and incorporate high-power-density ve-busbar PERC Monocrystalline cells. Available in 60 and 72 cell. www.itekenergy.com
Solaria Corporation
Solaria PowerXT module is an advanced high performance module. Aesthetic, all-black PowerXT modules offer 20% greater ef ciency to maximize power. Proprietary, patented cell-cutting process and module assembly technology eliminates inactive space between cells, reducing power losses and enhancing module aesthetics. A highly- rated module, sleek PowerXT is optimized for residential and commercial sectors. Manufactured ef ciently and cost-effectively, Solaria’s PowerXT maximizes energy yield from rooftop deployments and ensures low costs.
