SolarEdge has announced their latest evolution in power optimizers: the P-5 Series. The SolarEdge power optimizer is a DC/DC converter, which is connected by installers to each PV module or embedded by module manufacturers, replacing the traditional solar junction box. The power optimizers increase energy output from PV systems by constantly tracking the maximum power point (MPPT) of each module individually. Furthermore, they monitor the performance of each module and communicate performance data to a SolarEdge monitoring portal for enhanced, cost-effective, module-level maintenance. 

 

The P-5 Series of power optimizers offer the same electrical ratings, functionality, and mechanical interface as the earlier P-2 Series, and are fully interchangeable. In fact, the P-5 Series SolarEdge power optimizers will gradually replace the P-2 Series. P-5 is rated to IP68/NEMA6P.
