Solar solutions

BASF showcases a vast solar portfolio comprised of the following: UV stabilizers; plastics for framing and support; insulating foams; cell cleaners; cutting fluids; concrete admixtures; molten salt for thermal energy storage; and inks and pastes for metallization. BASF’s newest technology, Tinuvin 1600, is a high-performance ultraviolet (UV) light absorber for transparent outdoor thin section applications. The product’s excellent UV absorption capacity makes it ideal for enabling biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate films to become a key component for photovoltaics, as well as other solar power devices. With Tinuvin 1600, PET films are now a viable alternative for PV, getting the industry closer to grid parity by making solar energy more cost effective.
