The New York Power Authority (NYPA) marked its third year on Forbesmagazine's list of Best Mid-Sized Employers by placing in the top 500 companies "liked best" by employees in the 2021 annual ranking.  

NYPA was ranked 434th on the list - and highlighted as one of 19 utility companies. NYPA also received the distinction in 2018 and 2019. The Mid-Sized Employers list was not produced last year.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista, a provider of market and consumer data, to pinpoint the companies liked best by employees in the annual ranking of America's best employers. NYPA was included in the list for midsize companies with 1,000 to 5,000 employees.in their U.S. operations. 

Statista surveyed 50,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. All the surveys were anonymous, allowing participants to openly share their opinions. The respondents were asked to rate, on a scale of zero to 10, how likely they'd be to recommend their employer to others. Statista then asked respondents to nominate organizations other than their own, as well as identify organizations they would not recommend to others. 

NYPA, with central offices in White Plains, employs more than 2,400 workers in New York State, and operates major hydropower projects in Western and Northern New York.
