Access control system

Whiting Corporation has introduced to North America its new universal access control system. AccessPoint, from Whiting Passport, uses smart card technology to control access to mobile and fixed plant equipment. It physically prevents unauthorized people from using vital machinery they aren’t qualified to control.

Accidents and downtime are the deadly enemies of the energy industries. The challenge is to optimize project output efficiencies, utilizing expensive and dangerous equipment, while depending on the safety of highly skilled personnel. AccessPoint is unique in that it controls and can record who, when, how, and where equipment—such as such as trucks, dozers, cranes, and conveyors—have been used. The technology, which can be used on any piece of fixed or mobile equipment, is an inexpensive, easy-to-use way to significantly reduce the risks of injury due to equipment misuse.
