BATTERY-CHARGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WORKS WITH HIGHER VOLTAGE MODULES

The T100 MPPT PV Battery-Charge Management System is designed to work with new higher-voltage PV modules. With the T100, users can wire modules in series up to 200 Voc max/160 volts nominal, and it integrates battery-charge management, state of charge information, and communications into a single device, while providing 100 amps continuous output.

The T100 includes a built-in energy monitor, using TriMetric technology from Bogart Engineering. The monitor tracks energy production and consumption to calculate the energy remaining in the battery. State of charge is displayed in percent full, amp-hours, watt-hours, and bar-graph format, and units store 90 days of energy-harvest history. It also features a slot for add-in cards, providing system performance, data communication, and firmware updates via Apollo Solar"s Wireless Remote Monitoring Display, PCs and the internet.

These units support flooded lead acid (FLA), GEL and absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries, and four-stage charging with adjustable set points for all parameters enhances battery performance and extends battery life. Additionally, the T100 is engineered to capture up to 35 percent more power from a photovoltaic (PV) array, using patent-pending Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology. MPPT and the charging efficiency cuts the cost of a PV system by reducing the number of PV panels required, eliminating the need for heavy gauge wiring, and increasing the life of the storage batteries.

The T100 produces full-rated power without de-rating, at up to 45ø C/113ø F ambient temperature. Above that temperature, the output current is reduced gradually and then automatically ramped up again as the temperature decreases. High-efficiency power circuits and robust thermal design minimize heat generation.
