Remote sensing wind monitoring system

Campbell Scientific Inc., manufacturer of high-performance wind monitoring systems, now offers a remote sensor for wind resource assessment and power performance monitoring. The ZephIR 300 is a ground-based/fixed offshore platform wind lidar, which provides vertical wind profiles, wind speed, wind direction, shear, and turbulence across 10 user-defined heights—from 10 meters to 200 meters. Wind data are collected directly or through a co-located Campbell Scientific meteorological station via cell, satellite, CAISO-approved RIG, and/or onsite SCADA (including Modbus and DNP 3). The ZephIR has a proven seven-year track record, with over two million hours of operation and 450 deployments in extreme conditions across the globe. The ZephIR is used for site assessment, prospecting and turbine micro-siting, extreme flow conditions, power curve assessment, permanent wind farm anemometry and analysis, and complex site analysis.
