Remote display solar monitoring

Steca Elektronik GmbH provides a new Internet remote display that allows permanent monitoring and performance analysis for solar thermal systems. The Steca TK RW2 IFA router was developed to visualize solar thermal systems in combination with the Steca TR 0603mc U solar thermal controller. Temperature and performance data are clearly displayed for analysis in an Internet browser window and changes in temperature, over time, are visualized using diagrams. If a heat meter is used, the system is even capable of displaying energy balances and CO2 savings.

By logging online (www.solarthermalweb.com), with a personal username and password, the operator can monitor system information worldwide. The historical data archived on a server is permanently available and can be downloaded for detailed analysis with the applicable software, Steca TS Analyzer 1, at any time.

NYSEIA Supports Passage of Solar Jobs & Development Act: Legislation would Create 22,000 Jobs

New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) is urging state legislators to pass the New York Solar Jobs and Development Act of 2010, a landmark solar power bill that would create more than 22,000 green jobs and $20 billion in economic output over the next 15 years.

The legislation would require New York to install 5,000 megawatts of solar power by 2025 -- enough sun energy to power approximately one million homes at a modest cost of 39 cents on resident’s monthly electric bills.

NYSEIA applauded the Assembly Energy Committee on its approval of the bill (S.7093a/A.11004) that the floor will vote on next week.

“The New York Solar Jobs and Development Act will jump start the state’s solar economy and create good-paying jobs with lasting security,” said NYSEIA president Ron Kamen, senior vice president of EarthKind Solar. “This small investment now will spur continuous investment and save costly needed future payments for foreign fuel sources.”

The association is pushing lawmakers to pass the bill to make solar a larger part of New York’s electricity generation that today represents less than 0.01% of the mix and keep pace with neighboring states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Residential PV solar system installation

NewEdge solar panelsCanadian Solar recently announced its NewEdge solar panels, compatible with the new Zep roof-mounting System, as well as several other existing mounting systems. The NewEdge panels provide one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to install PV solar systems on residential roofs. The panels are the first of their kind to be equipped with special “Zep Grooves” that allow them to lock into ZepSolar’s state-of the-art, rail-free, auto-grounding Zep System. The Zep System could slash solar installation costs in half and the time installers spend on a roof by as much as 75%, yielding significant financial, labor and performance improvements with the NewEdge modules when compared to traditional roof-mounted solar systems.
