The Cost to Go Carbon Neutral in 2020

LevelTen Energy released its Q4 2019 PPA Pricing Index, which includes the latest wind and solar prices for North America and developers' predictions for 2020 prices. Here are a few key findings: 

  • Overall renewable prices are steady: Across markets, wind and solar prices decreased $0.06 per megawatt hour (MWh), or 0.1% quarter-over-quarter. 

  • Wind sees price bumps: Wind prices rose an average of 6.6%

  • Solar prices drop: Overall, solar prices dropped 4.7%

  • Competition impacts prices: In Q4, 44% of solar developers and 43% of wind developers said competition was the No. 1 price-driver.
