Solar technology contracts activity in Q3 2019 saw 348 contracts announced, marking a drop of 13% over the last four-quarter average of 400, according to GlobalData's power industry contracts database.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the top position in terms of number of contracts during Q3 2019 with a 52.2% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 217 contracts and a 62.4% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 70 contracts and a 20.1% share
  3. Supply & Erection: 44 contracts and a 12.6% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: nine contracts and a 2.6% share
  5. Electricity Supply: six contracts and a 1.7% share
  6. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 0.6% share.

Europe leads solar contracts activity in Q3 2019

Comparing contracts activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 182 contracts and a share of 52.3% during Q3 2019, followed by Asia-Pacific with 72 contracts and a 20.7% share and North America with 54 contracts and a 15.5% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with 24 contracts and a 6.9% share and in fifth place was Middle East and Africa with 16 contracts and a 4.6% share.
