Augusta Strengthens Spanish Offering with Appointment of Axel Narvaez, Managing Director, Head of Spain

Augusta & Co. (Augusta), a specialist financial advisory and investment firm for the renewable energy industry, has announced the appointment of Axel Narváez Kirkpatrick to the position of Managing Director, Head of Spain.

Axel will be responsible for bringing Augusta's extensive advisory and deal making capability, as well as its equity placement power, to the very active Spanish market. In this role he will be developing both Augusta's advisory business and its bespoke investment management strategies in Spain.

Axel brings a wealth of experience in Spanish renewable energy finance to the Augusta team. Previously, he served as CFO for solar company Torresol, a Spanish firm with over €1bn of investment, responsible for the development of three concentrated solar plants. Prior to that, he was a Finance Manager for Vestas Mediterranean, where he led project development and debt financing for a pipeline of Latin American wind farms.

The appointment comes at a time of considerable international activity in the Spanish renewables sector, with a pro-renewables government inbound and a healthy increase in project development anticipated across all technologies.

Commenting on his appointment, Narváez said, "Following a long period of uncertainty, Spanish renewables have started to draw in international investment as a result of favourable policies, ambitious goals and, finally, a stable legal framework."

"In order to make the most of these opportunities, both for Spanish stakeholders and for international investors, it is vital to have a detailed understanding of the market's inner workings. Augusta sits firmly among the top-tier financial advisors in the sector, and I look forward to bringing my own experience to bear as we help our clients navigate the Spanish renewable energy market."

Mortimer Menzel, Partner, added, "We are very pleased to have Axel on board. Senior market-specific expertise and relationships are critical in bringing large-scale project and portfolio transactions to fruition. Axel's deep knowledge of the rapidly expanding Spanish renewables sector will be invaluable for our advisory and investment management clients, allowing us to serve them better - and to do so from Madrid."

Augusta has been closing deals in the Spanish renewable energy market for over a decade, including the successful sales of several hundred megawatts of wind, hydro and solar assets.
