Schletter Group Signs Wholesale Agreement for West Africa

The globally active solar mounting company Schletter Group is expanding its business in West Africa. The company has signed an agreement with the steel manufacturer Sparkwest Steel Industries, who will exclusively market Schletter open area and rooftop systems in Nigeria. In addition, Sparkwest Steel will act as wholesale dealer for the Schletter Group in a number of other West African countries as well.

"The partnership with Sparkwest Steel gives us excellent local access to a fast growing key market", says Trevor De Vries, Managing Director of Schletter South Africa. With a population of more than 190 m, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa. The West African state is facing major challenges regarding its energy infrastructure, often experiencing several blackouts per day.

"Solar power will play a major role in stabilizing power supply in Nigeria over the coming years", De Vries adds. Sparkwest Steel Industries, headquartered in the Nigerian capital Lagos, is one of the leading manufacturers of steel across West and Central Africa. The company also has local presences in Ghana, Cameroun, Ivory Coast, and Uganda. Among other clients, Sparkwest Steel supplies Telecoms, Power, Oil & Gas and Advertisement companies with steel infrastructure and is facing increasing demand for photovoltaic solutions for open area and rooftop systems from its clients.

"In partnering with the Schletter Group, we are helping companies within the region to easily and readily source their mounting equipment locally", Hafiz Lawal, Group Head Construction for Sparkwest Steel Industries says. "This will drive the deployment of renewable energy solutions across the region."
