STI Norland Supplies 186 MWp of its STI-H1250 Horizontal Axis Solar Trackers to Egypt's Benban Complex.

At the beginning of  this year, STI Norland was chosen as the supplier of solar trackers for three PV plants located in the Benban complex, in the Aswan region.

In total the plants will have 717 horizontal single axis trackers (STI-H1250 model), which have already begun to be supplied.

The project owned by Acciona and Swicorp and supported financially by the World Bank's Finance Corporation (IFC) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), consists of three PV plants and it is estimated to reach with its start-up, in March 2019, a power of 186 MWp. Producing energy equivalent to the consumption of 150,000 Egyptian households that will avoid the emission of 297,000 tons of CO2 annually.

Benban complex is promoted by the Egyptian administration and will host 41 privately owned photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of 1,800 MW. These plants are part of an incentive program (feed-in-tariff) established in Round 2 convened in 2016.

These projects, the first of STI Norland in Egypt, consolidate the presence of the solar trackers manufacturer in a market with great potential such as MENA region, where, according to data from the International Energy Agency, is forecasted an increase in renewable capacity of 60% in 5 years, up to over 40GW.
